Welcome to 550 Snowmobile Club site. On this first page we would like to give you overview of the club and our trail system. If you have been with us before and want to the report click here. The club was founded over 20 years ago. The objective and purpose of the club is to unite snowmobiler’s for mutual well being, protection and consideration of others. To work for the establishment and maintenance of good and safe ridding conditions. To promote and maintain good will between members of our club as well as members of other snowmobile and non-snowmobile organizations of our community and promote common good. Our club is the DNR grant sponsor for 148 round trip miles of trail. We use two Tucker Snow Cat Groomer with a 8’ Arrow Drag. Our Groomer Operators are Dennis (Dude) Wilcox, Rick (Fixit) Hausfeld, and Clayton (JD) Turner. The trails in our system are, 14, 310 (Wilson Creek Loop, Yellow Dog Loop). Conditions in our system can very to one extreme to another due to the influence of Lake Superior and the change altitude of trails. This can make the job of grooming a challenge. We groom trail 14 from Big Bay to Anderson Homestead on the west end, where Baraga County takes over. We also groom the new section of trail 14 from Wilson Creek Loop ( Trail 310 ) on the north end to trail 8 in Marquette Township south end. We groom trail 310 (the loop) from the intersection of 14 on the north end, intersection of trail 14 on the top of Camp 6 Hill at the west end. At this intersection you can turn left and go west out to trail 5 south, or continue on trail 14 west, or you can go east back to Big Bay. |
